Cette initiative vise à intégrer le développement durable dans les pratiques de Gestion de Projet en favorisant l’accès aux standards existants, en partageant des expériences réussies, en portant des initiatives et en initiant des collaborations.
Le développement durable (DD) est un développement répondant aux besoins du présent sans compromettre la capacité des générations futures à répondre à leurs propres besoins (rapport Brundtland, 1987).
La responsabilité sociétale (RS) est le concept qui désigne la responsabilité d'une entité (agent économique, groupe, collectivité...) relativement aux conséquences sociales, sanitaires et environnementales de ses activités, notamment pour ses parties prenantes. C'est une démarche de processus permanent de progrès, de type amélioration continue.

Assemblée Générale du Global Compact France
A l’appel du Secrétaire général de l’ONU Kofi Annan en 2000, entreprises,organisations, agences des Nations Unies, monde du travail et société civile se sont rassemblés autour de dix principes universellement reconnus.
15 ans plus tard, le Global Compact est la plus importante initiative internationale d’engagement volontaire en matière de développement durable, regroupant près de 13 000 participants dans 160 pays.

Lancé au Palais de l'Elysée en 2003 par le Président de la République Jacques Chirac et le Secrétaire général des Nations Unies Kofi Annan, le Global Compact France a fêté ses 10 ans d'existence en tant qu'association de loi 1901 en 2015.
Il est le relais local pour déployer la stratégie et les programmes du Global Compact en France.
La France est le deuxième pays en nombre de participants dans le monde avec en début 2016, 1153 participants dont 1023 entreprises.

Sustainability and corporate consciousness are critical to the viability and success of organizations. The world in the near term of 40 years presents a degree of uncertainty that is unprecedented in our history. Because of it, there is a new set of constraints placed in the way of organizational success.
Organizations must take a broader look into the future to understand how their enterprise will be affected, and what must be done to deliberately mitigate risks associated with these new constraints.
